  2. Just listened to the show. Several points:

    - Jesus! Do you fucks play anything other than first person shooters?! Seriously the entire first segment was like FPS Hour.

    - Rock's dismissal of Pat know the animator of Clone Wars made my blood boil.

    - I hope you assholes have cooled a bit on the Ouya. It's a scam, and will be under-powered, throwaway techie junk in 6 months.

    - The joke's on Rock, cuz he had to buy those Creed and Nickelback songs.

    - Maybe I'll play Silent Hill 2. I've never played those games and it's so far out of my comfort zone, it'd be interesting to talk with Dan Smith about it.

    - MOAR prolapsed rectum talk. Less Final Fantasy X-II talk.

    1. Haha! I actually think it was three animators I was confusing, as I threw Craig McCracken in there too. Oh well, this is what happens when I try to remember a thing from ten years ago while drinking. Good thing I copped to it.

    2. In fact, as I went to edit the show, when we got to that part of the show, I thought, "Wait What? What in the hell was I talking about?" Ah well. Sure it's a bit embarrassing, but at least I was able to get straightened out and admit I was wrong.

    3. I think I zoned out during the Final Fantasy stuff... haha, I don't remember that at all.

    5. At least Dan Smith still hates everything.

  3. For favorite video game endings, I believe I have a three-way tie.

In chronological order, I have to commend Chrono Trigger for being the first high profile game (for console gamers) to allow for a variety of endings depending how one plays the game, and the endings were different enough to be worth the multiple playthroughs.

Next, the first Metal Gear Solid blew my mind. I remember sitting through the whole ending sequence (credits included) and saying aloud, to myself, "I just played the greatest game ever made." Despite the pathos-based hyperbole, it was a truly astounding game, whose ending really brought the game events to a close as well as addressing the higher themes of the game. It felt like I'd just played a good book, and I gained a level as a person that day.

However, the best game ending I've seen is Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake-Eater. It does all that the original MGS does but does it bigger. I've never gotten emotional with a video game ending, but this thing shook me to my core. Hideo Kojima may be a crazy mother fucker, but the dude knows how to tell a story and, more importantly, how to end a story (unlike most Japanese storytellers...seriously, go watch nearly any anime and tell me that the ending is anything but crap).

    1. I also remember the ending to MGS 3 fondly. However, i played and beat that game on release day like...10? years ago and haven't gone back to it much since. I'll say the fight with Big Boss in the wildflowers was a magical moment, though.
