THQ To Release WWE Wrestlefest this Tuesday

In news that I'm sure is only exciting to me, it seems there is another WWE game on its' way very soon. Like, this week. THQ plans to release WWE Wrestlefest, an arcade wrestling game featuring cartoonish versions of WWE Superstars. And possibly on a console near you.

Macho Man likes to watch.

You might remember Wrestlefest from its' original 1992 release in arcades. That game was a staple in my neck of the woods, often commanding crowds as large as those that gathered around Street Fighter II and Mortal Kombat. That game featured 6-man battle royals, tag matches, as well as one-on-one matches. The roster was full of legends, such as KGB favorite Macho Man Randy Savage, Hulk Hogan, and Jake The Snake.

360!

The forthcoming version of WWE Wrestlefest will feature several of the original legends, as well as newer stars like Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, and John "Fruity Pebbles" Cena. For now, the game is only announced for iOS and mobile devices. However, several tweets from people inside THQ have pointed to Wrestlefest heading to XBLA and PSN. Expect an official announcement this Tuesday, when the mobile version becomes available.

Now if only they'd add Razor Ramon.

PUT HIM IN THE DAMN GAME!!!

Double Fine Says "Screw Publishers! Let's Do This!"

As I'm sure you're well aware, this past Wednesday Double Fine Productions announced that they were doing something crazy: funding a game through Kickstarter. You may be aware of Kickstarter, as there have been several notable projects funded through the start-up funding site. This isn't the first time Kickstarter has been used to fund a game, but those are usually relegated to iOS developers looking for a few thousand dollars in order to make hex-based roguelikes. Just ask Pat, he loves to talk about this.

Remembering the Horror: A Resident Evil Retrospecive pt 3

Part 2 of the retrospective ended on a high note. With the release of Resident Evil 4, much of survival horror had changed; in fact, much of gaming in general changed after the 4th entry. But with the much lauded Resident Evil 4 out of the way, were could Capcom go next with the series?
