Hands-Off First Impressions: Saint's Row IV

Wow. That's all we can say. We recently got a hands-off demo of Saint's Row IV at Pax East 2013, and we were in stitches. Deep Silver is certainly allowing Volition to continue the crazy with the Next Great Sequel in the Saint's Row franchise.

There Are No Heroes Here: Tomb Raider Review

It’s not often that a videogame delivers on nearly every single promise it makes, but Tomb Raider goes a long way towards doing so. Tomb Raider is fantastic. There’s really no other way to describe it. Crystal Dynamics has crafted one of the greatest games of this generation, and in doing so, has resurrected the once-forgotten Tomb Raider franchise to incredible new heights.

Game of the Year 2012: AGTurbo

2012 was an amazing year, of surprising games. No game surprised and amazed me like Max Payne 3: my Game of the Year.

When I first saw the trailers of Max Payne 3 I was disappointed that it took place in Sao Paulo, he was bald, and the trailers consisted nothing but shooting, that there was a cover system, and was a complete affront of the series. Further I progressed in Max Payne 3 the more I enjoyed it. I have beat the single player 4 times, beat the game on New York Minute, and legend twice on multiplayer. With no doubt I give Max Payne 3 my GAME OF THE YEAR.

Game of the Year 2012: Chris Linendoll

If you were to ask me at this time last year what I'd choose as 2012's Game of the Year, XCOM: Enemy Unknown probably wouldn't even cross my mind. To be honest, I was pretty excited for the XCOM FPS that was (is?) in development at 2K Marin. I've never played the previous, classic XCOM games, and I haven't touched strategy games since the late 90s. But, somehow, XCOM: Enemy Unknown is unquestionably my Game of the Year.

Known Griefers Discusses the WarZ Situation

If you've been anywhere near the Internet in the past 48 hours, you've presumably heard some rumblings about WarZ. The zombie survival game launched on Steam earlier this week, and quickly shot up the best-selling charts. Some players felt misled by the game's...less than factual description, though.

Price Dropasaurus: Shadows of the Damned

When Shadows of the Damned released in June of 2011, it did two things: It won critics over, earning almost universal praise, and it proceeded to sell worse than televisions in an Amish community. SotD sold less than 30,000 copies in its first week, and that's from both Xbox and PS3 combined!  Well Rock is here now to tell you why this gem is worth your time, especially now that the price been slashed significantly.

Doom 64: An Overlooked Horror Gem

Hell must have frozen over. KGB Radio co-host Pat Ronk actually managed to write an article. Speaking of Hell, here's a look at Doom 64. This version of the classic id shooter had some major differences from other ports, and Pat takes a look at what makes this one so special.

Modern Classics: Metro 2033

Rock jumps in to share his love of Metro 2033. It's a shame that a lot of people decided to pass it by when it first came around! Well now that the sequel has been delayed until 2013, there's no better time than now to check out this absolute gem of a shooter!

Hands-On First Impressions: Spec Ops: The Line

Oh boy, here we go. Another third person shooter, complete with cover mechanics, macho alpha males, and douchechill-inducing American patriotism. To be totally honest, those were my exact thoughts when I first heard of Spec Ops: The Line, and had written the game off as decidedly "not for me" pretty long ago. I don't tend to enjoy games outside of my comfort zone of the action-adventure and grappling sports entertainment genres. Shooters for me are simply too chaotic, too jock-tacular for me to ever really get into, outside of some of the true standouts in that space. Much to my surprise, I found Spec Ops to be completely enjoyable.

Call of Duty Goes Futuristic- Does it Matter?

With the trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 now out in the wild, the speculation has ended- the Black Ops sequel will take place in the future, the year 2025, to be exact.  Rock takes a look at the series as a whole, and why going to the future might be the most interesting thing the series has done yet.

DayZ: The Zombie Game You Damn Kids Keep Asking For

It's not often that I would set out to write about an amazing game, only to find myself drawn to talking about a very new, very unpolished mod for it, but that's the situation I find myself in today. For all of the folks who talk about “that zombie game”, the multiplayer game with dozens of players, where you need to scavenge for supplies in an open world, avoiding zombies and potentially murderous survivors alike. The zombie game where you need to eat, and drink, and find some way just to exist in a broken, shattered world. Folks, I'm happy to say this game is a reality, and if you own a copy of ArmA 2: Combined Ops, you could be playing it right now. Welcome to DayZ.

Max Payne 3: Hands-On First Impressions

Rockstar Games has nearly stolen the show the past few years at PAX East. Generally not a major player at conventions such as E3, R* has wisely decided to bring their wares to the Penny Arcade Expo, allowing their most hardcore fans access to the next big thing. Last year, L.A. Noire was shown to the general public for the first time ever at PAX East, and this year, Max Payne 3 was made playable for eager fans of shooting guys in the face. KGB had the chance to play through a 15 minute demo, and we were left wanting more.

Bang, Zoom, Straight to the Moon: Star Fox 64 3D Review

Nostalgia is an iffy thing. Sometimes it is a love that persists through the ages, an endless love. But most of the time, it's merely a trick to ruin memories. Luckily, I've never played a Star Fox game before. Take that, nostalgia!
