The Unintentional Horror of Viva Pinata
Viva Pinata is one of the cutest, most innocent games I've ever played. I think the only game to out cute it would be that of Kirby's Epic Yarn
But to be honest there's been something bothering me about the world of Viva Pinata. And it's not just one part f it....but the whole thing. Pinata Island is a whole lot of craziness it seems.

Divekick: Hands-On First Impressions
A two-button fighting game sounds like absolute nonsense. And, in a way, it totally is. Divekick began life as a joke, and has now become a proper game. A game that was attracting fairly large crowds at PAX East, to boot. We had a blast with Divekick, and here's why!

Hands-Off First Impressions: Saint's Row IV
Wow. That's all we can say. We recently got a hands-off demo of Saint's Row IV at Pax East 2013, and we were in stitches. Deep Silver is certainly allowing Volition to continue the crazy with the Next Great Sequel in the Saint's Row franchise.

There Are No Heroes Here: Tomb Raider Review
It’s not often that a videogame delivers on nearly every single promise it makes, but Tomb Raider goes a long way towards doing so. Tomb Raider is fantastic. There’s really no other way to describe it. Crystal Dynamics has crafted one of the greatest games of this generation, and in doing so, has resurrected the once-forgotten Tomb Raider franchise to incredible new heights.

Dark Souls: Rekindling the Flame
As gamers sometimes we go through a period where nothing we play enthralls us like it used to. I've been through it several times myself over the years. In fact I'm in one of those periods now, I have been for a few months. In my excitement about Resident Evil 6, I put all of my hopes into that game, believing in its ability to finally be the RE game this generation deserved. It failed me. And afterwards I got into a funk, nothing seemed to interest me much anymore, it all felt like idle time being wasted. But something recent happened...something that finally got me thinking about a game, and interested in it.
I rekindled a bonfire in Dark Souls.

Aliens, Lies, and Everything: The Colonial Marines Fiasco
If you were anywhere near the Internet last week, you might be aware that Aliens: Colonial Marines isn’t that great of a videogame. The latest release from Gearbox definitely took its bumps in the press, and been vilified to the extent that both Gearbox and the Aliens franchise may be forever tainted. It seems the pitchforks of Angry Internet Mobs have only gotten sharper and sharper lately.

THQ Auction Rumors Are Swirling *UPDATED WITH TOTAL PURCHASES*
The Toy Headquarters headed off to the old auction block yesterday. Each of THQ's IPs and development studios were auctioned off individually, as part of THQ's Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The auction is actually kind of complex, with the total amount paid for THQ's assets needing to exceed the $60 million offered by Clearlake Capital earlier in the year.

Diablo III Game Director Steps Down
Normally, we let most of the minor news stories in gaming go without much coverage. Sometimes, however, there are a few tidbits that are interesting enough for us to take a look at. And earlier today, Jay Wilson, the director of Blizzard's Diablo III, announced he was stepping down from the project.

Dead Island Riptide Torso Makes the Internet Go Crazy
Early this morning, Deep Silver, the publisher of Dead Island, sent out a press release touting premium versions of their new title: Deep Island Riptide. As has become the norm for the industry, Dead Island Riptide comes with a useless trinket, that gamers can add to their shelves, right next to dusty Master Chief helmets and broken Modern Warfare 2 goggles.
Except this time, the trinket is boobs.

Game of the Year 2012: John Newby
It seems to me that 2012 has been the year of the assassin. Games like Assassins Creed III, Dishonored, Hitman: Absolution, and Lego Lord of the Rings (just trust me) have all focused on the art of silent murder. Additionally, games like The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and Mark of the Ninja feature assassinations as central plot points. It would only make sense that my game of the year for 2012, Dishonored, is all about assassinating enemies.

Game of the Year 2012: AGTurbo
2012 was an amazing year, of surprising games. No game surprised and amazed me like Max Payne 3: my Game of the Year.
When I first saw the trailers of Max Payne 3 I was disappointed that it took place in Sao Paulo, he was bald, and the trailers consisted nothing but shooting, that there was a cover system, and was a complete affront of the series. Further I progressed in Max Payne 3 the more I enjoyed it. I have beat the single player 4 times, beat the game on New York Minute, and legend twice on multiplayer. With no doubt I give Max Payne 3 my GAME OF THE YEAR.

KGB Radio Episode 47: Game of the Year Spectacular!
Join Rock, Pat, and friend of the site D. Bethel as we go through the highs and lows of gaming this year. Game of the Year, as well as some other awards get handed out.
Game of the Year 2012: Chris Linendoll
If you were to ask me at this time last year what I'd choose as 2012's Game of the Year, XCOM: Enemy Unknown probably wouldn't even cross my mind. To be honest, I was pretty excited for the XCOM FPS that was (is?) in development at 2K Marin. I've never played the previous, classic XCOM games, and I haven't touched strategy games since the late 90s. But, somehow, XCOM: Enemy Unknown is unquestionably my Game of the Year.

Game of the Year 2012: D. Bethel
In what was, for me, a profound year in general, Bioware's Mass Effect 3 exemplifies why this year was especially profound for my gaming. Like a few other titles, Mass Effect 3 inspired me to play through it at least three times––something I cannot say I've done since my PS2 days; but, even then, with games like Shadow of the Colossus and Metal Gear Solid 3, my repeated play-throughs came with extended stretches between them. Like no year before, many of the games I played in 2012 were so inspired and fun that, immediately upon their completion, I started a new play-through, repeating this until I got worn out or a new game came along. Though Mass Effect 3 was not the first game I looped this year (that honor goes to the damaged but brilliant I Am Alive), the multifaceted draw of ME3 makes it the most compelling example.
